Review: The Real Housewives of Atlanta

The Real Housewives of Atlanta has returned for its most anticipated 11th season in November 2018. And despite many fans discussing the sizable dip (read: all-time low in 10 years) in its ratings, the Bravo hit is now delivering on its promise of sassy steam. Now, as ratings and reviews on the housewives franchise continue to go back up, let’s just pause and rewind ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta – Season 11’.

When it comes to Season 11, there have been enough disappointments regarding the cast. Ever since Kenya Moore and Phaedra Parks left the show, fans thought that things aren’t going to be the same anymore. And others predicted a possibility of their comeback to revive the ratings. In fact, a major chunk of RHOA followers wasn’t sure how to react to Eva Marcille and ShamariDeVoe being peach holders.

But the good news for the fans was the return of Southern sophisticates Cynthia Bailey, Kandi Burruss, Nene Leakes, and Porsha Williams.

Not to forget, Eva Marcille who got a promotion from her ‘part-time’ role in the tenth season. And then there’s ShamariDeVoe, the wife of R&B/pop group New Edition and Bell BivDeVoe singer Ronnie DeVoe. What’s more, Marlo Hampton was back on the scene, joined by newbie Tanya Sam, Nene’s new friend, and an IT geek.

Fast forward to ‘To Love and To Cherish’: Cynthia Bailey and Porsha have found their new love; Eva now has a peach, a new ring, and a baby boy; NeNe dealing with Gregg’s stage 3 colon cancer; Porsha planning a trip to Miami to show uplift NeNe’s spirit and extend support for the Leakes family.

Though there wasn’t much discernible tension among the couple or even among the ladies in the first few episodes, there were enough ‘too emotional’ moments.

There were also a few moments that will make your jaw drop even though drama is expected from the housewives.

And there were crazy moments like Riley’s thoughts on mum Kandi’s idea of expanding the family again (Kandi still has two frozen embryos), Kandi revealing Porsha shopping with her guy at the same place her ex bought her a ring, Cynthia’s plans to confront Eva Marcel over the situation with Will… and the list goes on!

If you haven’t been able to tune in yet, it’s high time fellas.

After watching a few episodes, things will start to get interesting (disclaimer: not as interesting as the past few seasons, but enough to grip you!) You will start deeply loving some (Porsha and NeNe are our darlings!), hating some (though its momentary, can’t tell the names!), or wishing the best for someone.

That said, we completely understand that what is interesting and fascinating to you might be boring for others. And yes, what you’ve seen so far until week 8 completely changes by week 11 or 12.

After all, it’s a reality television series. So, try watching the entire season. Maybe you’ll love it and get obsessed with it!
