Top 5 things you should be doing daily to keep yourself motivated

One of the hardest things to do is to keep motivated during tough times.  The road to success is a hard and sometimes lonely one.  When trying to forge your own success or career path, it is often very hard to not get bogged down by the small things.  Little setbacks can have far-reachingconsequences on your motivation levels.

Here are some tips on how you can maintain your motivation level every day.

  1. Take a break and breath

The most common things about us human are how easy it is for us to settle for mediocre or to remain unhappy with our lives.  Very often, we may have a brilliant idea that may change our lives for the better, but in a few seconds, we are formulating lists of a hundred reasons why that idea will not work.  Imagine what you can achieve if you follow your instincts and go with your first idea.

There is an amazing tool called the 5 Second Rule – no, not the one about food on the floor.  This 5 Second Rule refers to you acting on an idea within five seconds before your limiting beliefs kill it.When an idea or thought pops into your head.  Take a breathe and count down from five.  At the end of the countdown, move and act.  It could involve the simple act of writing down your idea, but it is a start to action.

  1. Envelope yourself in motivation

When you are focused on achieving a goal, you will get caught up in the end goal and not the process.  Focusing too much on the end goal will surely allow you to lose sight of what that goal is.  Use a vision board to keep you focused on your goal and to stay motivated towards it.  Surround yourself with elements that motivate you.  A vision board is a great way to visually affirm and motivate you.

  1. Break it up into pieces

There are times when achieving our goals will seem like an insurmountable task.  Feeling overwhelmed is one way of losing your motivation.  When faced with a huge task, break it up into manageable pieces.  Write down a checklist of your task and check them as you go along.  Viewing the path to your goal in little chunks, makes the success path seem a little easier.

  1. Play some lifting music

Studies have shown that music does control our moods and emotions.  When you are feeling a bit overwhelmed or unmotivated, choose to play some music that will uplift your mood or help to make you feel better.  It does not matter what your favorite genre is, if the song or music moves you positively, then play it and play it loud.

  1. Talk to a close someone that knows you well

When we are at a loss for motivation or feeling overwhelmed it is very hard to see the forest for the trees.  We get so caught up in trying to make us feel better or to get back on track that we lose sight of how to accomplish this.  It is great to speak to a friend that understands and knows you very well to help get you back on track and to fill you with motivation.

 

Never lose sight of your goals and why you do what you do.  Motivation can come to all of us, we all need to practice how to be it every day.
