Dreaming Big

We live in a world where ordinary is becoming extinct. Growing up, most of us were told we had to go to school, get a degree, get a job, retire, and then die. We were told working for the government, getting a desk job, or doing something just to pay the bills was the way to live. Sadly, many of us have taken that advice and are living miserable lives. Why are we miserable? Because we were never told to dream big.

Sticking to the status quo does not work for everyone, and it may not work for you. You were created with a unique set of talents and gifts just so you can benefit this world. Maybe you have a gift of dancing, singing, writing, constructing, building, or tinkering, whatever the talent is, why not use it to live a better life. It is time to put away the mediocre way of living, and time to live your dreams.

Dreams can be a reality!

Just because someone else cannot see or visual it, does not mean it cannot be done. The first thing you have to do is visualize it. If you can think it, you can do it. You can go where your mind has been. Once you visualize what you want, write it down. Make every detail known. Write down what your goal looks like. Are you in an office, on a stage, in a studio, on a piece of property, etc.? Paint the picture in your head with words on the page.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way!

Now that you have your goal in mind, what steps can you take to accomplish that goal? If you are on the first floor trying to get to the second floor, you should not expect to levitate up there. You have to put one foot in front of the other, and walk up one step at a time to make it to your goal. You may have to start as an intern, a street performer, or freelancing. Everyone starts somewhere. Write down the steps you have to take to make it to your goal. Make a checklist of things you have to do. Keep a calendar of activities that will help reach your goal.

Follow the leaders!

The wheel has already been invented, but you can improve upon it. Research and follow those who have accomplished what you have. What are some things they mention that lead them to success? What failures do they discuss? What are some things they are doing now to support their goals? You can use those who have gone before you as an example of what to do and what not to do.

And finally, Fire FEAR!

Fear is the number one reason why we do not accomplish goals we have. We are afraid of failure, afraid of what others will say, or afraid of ruining our lives. News flash! If you do not try, you have already failed. If the voices we hear cannot help us, they will hurt us, so we must get rid of them. If you do nothing with your dream for your life, you are already ruining it. Give Fear the pink slip or the eviction notice. It is our biggest enemy and it wants to see us fail. Do not let it win!

There is no dream that is too big, for it is the motivation of a dreamer that creates and invents. There is no dream too small, but there are those who are small-minded. Do not be ordinary or regular. Be extraordinary, Be irregular. Dream Big!
