How to overcome rejection

How to Deal with Audition Rejection – and Emerge Stronger

Going through auditions is not easy. But, how much more when it comes to dealing with the inevitable rejections?

To say the least, getting over audition rejection (as in almost all forms of rejection) is not a walk in the park. But rejections are actually essential experience from where you can harbor lessons you can use to further develop your skills and your personality as a whole. At one point, every one of us will experience failures, disappointments and rejections, even the most skillful ones.

You may feel so mess up and bad about your self, yet things are actually not as bad as you think. Think of audition rejection as the necessary bump on your road to success.

Humans and their Inherent Need for Acceptance

Humans as we are, we are sensitive. We feel hurt and we are always craving for approval and acceptance. In fact, acceptance is considered as one of our basic human needs.

There are far deeper reasons behind the saying, no man is an island. Rooted with our need to be accepted, we don’t want to be rejected. And, naturally humans are wired to do everything they can to avoid getting rejected.

How to Deal with Audition Rejection

While rejection is never fun, it’s never reason enough to give up or dissuade you from achieving your passion.

Tough moments are necessary to make you stronger. Audition rejection does not mean ‘it’s over’, it just is simply part of the game.

Here are five methods to help you overcome rejection:

Stay Positive and Focus on What Went Well

They say that if you haven’t failed, that’s probably because you haven’t even tried. Think of a botched audition as a necessary step you need to climb to get you closer to your goal.

Acknowledge your Feelings But be Sure Not to Dwell on Them

It’s okay to cry, feel bad or angry and vent out. Don’t ignore your feelings because it’s all but normal. Give yourself a chance to express your emotions and afterwards be sure to get up and move on.

Dwelling on the negative won’t do you any good anyway.

Analyze Your Performance and Learn from Your Mistakes

Rejection isn’t all about you, there are a lot of factors involved. But take time to analyze your performance. Think about the areas where you may have missed out or what you can do to improve your self.

Use the Rejection as Your Motivation

No matter how bad the rejection can be for you, turns out everything happens for a reason. Take rejections as your opportunity to improve and turn your weakness into strength. Use it to motivate you to set your goals and plan your next actions to improve your chances next time.

Don’t Allow It to Dissuade You from Reaching Your Dream, Keep Going

Getting constantly rejected is tough and may lead you to question or doubt yourself. But don’t allow it to discourage you.

Perhaps you can invest in professional training and development courses to improve your talent or you need to reach out to successful people who can give you advices.

Whatever it is, you need to keep trying because it’s the only way you can get closer to your dream.
